Yann's favourite flight site? Here is his answer!

The one I really like is Maïdo, in Reunion Island

Since I started in 2011, I have been able to discover many different sites, from the Auvergne where I learnt, to the beaches of Morocco, via the Alpine classics! One of them stands out in my memories, the Maïdo on Reunion Island. Very technical take-off, amazing view on Mafate and the Piton des Neiges. It is advisable to be there early, to take off generally around 8:00 am, before the clouds make the flight impossible. If the thermals are there, the walk along the rampart is fantastic and you can even envisage a return to Saint Leu by air… A demanding flight, sublime, in a word: grandiose!

Technical information:
Maïdo is a site that operates from 8am. Take-off from a cliff at 2 000m, located in the North-East of the island, with a view of the Piton des Neiges. To reach the small take-off, you have to walk for about 30 minutes to get to the summit. After that it’s really easy to enjoy the view by walking along the cliff. The landing is west facing, near the Bay of Saint-Paul.
